ARCHIVED: In Windows, how can I turn printing notification on and off?

Windows 7

  1. In the default view, from the Start menu, select Control Panel. Click Hardware and Sound, and then select Devices and Printers.

    In icon view, from the Start menu, click Control Panel, and then select Devices and Printers.

  2. Select a printer, and, at the top of the window, click Print server properties.
  3. From the Advanced tab, check or uncheck Show informational notifications for local printers and Show informational notifications for network printers. Click OK.

Windows Vista or XP

  1. In the default view, from the Start menu, select Control Panel. Click Printer and Other Hardware, and then the Printers icon in Vista, or the Printers and Faxes icon in XP.

    In Classic View, from the Start menu, select Settings, and then Control Panel. Click the Printers and Faxes icon.

  2. In the Printers and Faxes window, from the File menu, select Server Properties. Press the Alt key if you do not see the menus.
  3. From the Advanced tab, check or uncheck Notify when remote documents are printed to either enable or disable the printing notification.
  4. Click OK to save the changes, and then close the dialog box.
