TCP/IP File Sharing is most practical when the computer sharing files has a static IP address. To turn on this option in OS 9, from the Apple menu, select , then . On the tab, if you see "File Sharing off", click the button to enable File Sharing.
To log into the computer sharing files over TCP/IP, follow these steps:
- From the Apple menu, open the , and click the icon.
- Click the button. Enter the IP address of the computer to which you will be connecting, and then click .
- In the dialog box, log in either as the owner of the computer with the computer's password or as a user set up in the portion of the control panel.
Once you are logged in, you can share files between computers.
Note: If you are connecting to a network through a modem, transfer rates will be limited by your modem speed.
