At IUPUI, Adaptive Educational Services (AES) offers a variety of services for students with disabilities. AES assists students by providing the following:

  • Coordination with faculty members to meet special needs while maintaining academic standards
  • Coordination of classroom requirements with special needs of students
  • Interpreters, note takers, readers, and test proctors
  • Electronic versions of textbooks (AES coordinates with the Adaptive Technology Center in Bloomington to provide this service)
  • Access to computers specially designed for dexterity or visual impairment
  • Computer programs that increase typing speed or use a speech synthesizer
  • Kurzweil library technology for visually impaired readers and students with learning disabilities
  • Sorensen video-relay phones in IT 131D, UL 3135N, and CA 425
