ARCHIVED: Where can I get the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

You can no longer get the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM) from Microsoft. If you need a Java Virtual Machine, download the Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from Oracle.

For applications that absolutely require the Microsoft version, the Microsoft JVM should be available from the application's developer for use with that specific application only.

Microsoft has stopped distribution of the JVM, and also no longer provides security updates for it. If you have already obtained the Microsoft JVM, you do not have to remove it from your computer; a court settlement between Microsoft and Sun only blocks further distribution of the JVM.
