To determine the backup type for an Intelligent Infrastructure virtual machine (VM):

  1. Go to the vSphere Web Client and log in with your Indiana University username and passphrase:
    • For your username, use the form username@ads.iu.edu.
    • Do not select Use Windows session authentication.
  2. At the top of the screen, click Menu and select VMs and Templates.
  3. In the left column, expand the desired Data Center, find the VM folder, and select the specific VM you wish to view.

On the main Summary tab, in the "Tags" information block, a "DPS" category tag should identify the data protection type used for this VM.

For more about the data protection setting and existing alternatives, see Data Protection Services (DPS) backups and VM disk tagging.

If you have difficulties determining the information or do not see a "DPS" category tag, contact Storage and Virtualization.
