ARCHIVED: How do I configure Net8 manually?

Note: These instructions are an alternate configuration method if you have problems with the instructions in ARCHIVED: How do I install and configure the Oracle 8.1.7 client in Windows 95, 98, NT, and 2000?

To manually configure Net8:

  1. From the Net8 Configuration Assistant, click Net8 Configuration Assistant so that the background of this text changes, and then click Stop.
  2. An error dialog box will appear. Click OK, and then click Exit.
  3. In the dialog box that appears, click Yes.
  4. The installer will be closed at this point. From the Start menu, select Programs, then Oracle Home, then Network Administration, and then Net8 Configuration Assistant.
  5. Select the Local Net Service Name Configuration radio button, and then click Next.
  6. Select Add, and then click Next.
  7. Continue with the Net8 configuration instructions in ARCHIVED: How do I install and configure the Oracle 8.1.7 client in Windows 95, 98, NT, and 2000?
