Windows XP Service Pack 2 includes a firewall that blocks access to network shares on your computer by default. To access a shared drive, configure your firewall to allow file sharing to your computer:

  1. From the Start menu, select either Control Panel, or Settings and then Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Windows Firewall.
  3. Click the Exceptions tab.
  4. Check File and printer sharing.
  5. Click OK.

You will now be able to access your shared folders across the network.
