At Indiana University, to configure VersaMail as an IMAP client for your Palm Treo 650, follow the steps below:
- Open the VersaMail software on your Treo 650.
- At the top left of the screen, tap , then at the top right of the screen, tap .
- Tap , then tap .
- Under "Account Name", choose an appropriate name for this
connection (e.g.,
IU Mail
). - Under "Mail Service", choose . This opens another drop-down menu named "Protocol".
- Under "Protocol", select , then tap .
- Under "Username" and "Password", enter your IU Network ID username and passphrase, then tap .
- In the "Email Address" field, enter your IU email address (e.g.,
username@indiana.edu
whereusername
is your IU username). - In the "Incoming Mail Server:" field, enter the mail server name
that corresponds to your mailbox type. If you use Exchange, your
incoming mail server is
imap.exchange.iu.edu
; if you use Cyrus mail, your incoming server isimap.iu.edu
. - In the "Outgoing Mail Server:" field, enter
mail-relay.iu.edu
, and tap . - At the bottom of the screen, tap the button.
- Under "Incoming Server Settings", check the box marked . This will automatically change the port number to 993. Tap .
- Under "Outgoing Server Settings", check the box marked
587
. . You will also need to change the "Port
Number" to - Check the box marked , then tap .
- To retrieve your mail, tap the button of the main VersaMail screen.
Note: You can specify the size of the mail to be retrieved and if you want to download attachments; however, these options will cause mail retrieval time to vary.
