At Indiana University, to configure VersaMail as an IMAP client for your Palm Treo 650, follow the steps below:

1. Open the VersaMail software on your Treo 650.
2. At the top left of the screen, tap VersaMail, then at the top right of the screen, tap Accounts.
3. Tap Account Setup, then tap New.
4. Under "Account Name", choose an appropriate name for this connection (e.g., IU Mail).
5. Under "Mail Service", choose Other. This opens another drop-down menu named "Protocol".
6. Under "Protocol", select IMAP, then tap Next.
7. Under "Username" and "Password", enter your IU Network ID username and passphrase, then tap Next.
8. In the "Email Address" field, enter your IU email address (e.g., username@indiana.edu where username is your IU username).
9. In the "Incoming Mail Server:" field, enter the mail server name that corresponds to your mailbox type. If you use Exchange, your incoming mail server is imap.exchange.iu.edu; if you use Cyrus mail, your incoming server is imap.iu.edu.
10. In the "Outgoing Mail Server:" field, enter mail-relay.iu.edu, and tap Next.
11. At the bottom of the screen, tap the Advanced button.
12. Under "Incoming Server Settings", check the box marked Use Secure Connection (SSL). This will automatically change the port number to 993. Tap Next.
13. Under "Outgoing Server Settings", check the box marked Use Secure Connection (SSL). You will also need to change the "Port Number" to 587.
14. Check the box marked Use authentication (ESMTP), then tap Next.
15. To retrieve your mail, tap the Get button of the main VersaMail screen.

Note: You can specify the size of the mail to be retrieved and if you want to download attachments; however, these options will cause mail retrieval time to vary.
