ARCHIVED: Using Opera 8.5 or later, how do I set up IMAP to access Cyrus mail?
To set up Opera 8.5 or later to access your Cyrus mail account at Indiana University using IMAP:
- In Opera, from the

- Click if you see the following message: "You need to create an account before proceeding. Would you like to create one now?"
- Under "Select what kind of account you would like to create",
choose
Note: In Opera 10 and later, choose

- Enter your name and email address, and then click
Note: The "Organization" field is not a required field. If you see it, you may skip it.

- In the "Login name" and "Password" fields, enter your IU
Network ID credentials. Click

under "Select an email account type". - In the "Incoming server" field, enter
imap.iu.edu
. In the "Outgoing server" field, entermail-relay.iu.edu
. Click .Note: If Opera's attempt to connect to your email fails, click
once or twice to continue setting up the account. - If Opera asks you to read through a tutorial, click .
- From the menu, select .
- In the window that appears, click , and then select .
- Select the tab.
- Under "Incoming IMAP server", check , and change the port number to 993.
- Under "Outgoing SMTP server", check authentication method to , and enter your Network ID credentials again. Click . , and leave the port at 25; if you cannot send email, try port 465. Change the

Subscribe IMAP folders
window, click again. - To receive the contents of your inbox, click . Once this step is finished, you will need to download your folders.
- Click and .
- A listing of all of your folders should now appear in the
window. Select the folders you'd like to download, and click
Note: In Opera 9.2x, this step may not be necessary because Opera attempts to subscribe to all folders.

- To download the email in your folders, click .
Note: Depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the amount of mail in your email account, it could take several minutes to fully receive all your mail, especially if Opera is attempting to download all headers and messages from all folders. At the bottom of the screen on the left, Opera will display the progress of the messages.
