Reviewer instructions for Blackbaud Award Management

Log in as a reviewer

Reviewers can complete the entire application review process within Blackbaud Award Management (BAM). When you log in, you will see all of the applications that are assigned to you, and you can rank them using rubrics or questions provided by the administrator.

To log in, go to IU Scholarships, click the Applicants and Administrators tab, and then click Sign In With Your CAS Credentials.

Note:
  • Do not go to the References and Reviewers tab and set up a new account. The References and Reviewers tab is intended for use only by individuals who are not affiliated with IU.
  • If you are redirected to the "General Application" page, contact the administrator.

Reviewers may have more than one role in BAM. To make sure you are viewing the system as a reviewer, click the arrow icon next to your name, and then select the Reviewer role.

Review applications assigned to you

When you log in as a reviewer, BAM will display a list of all opportunities assigned to you. Each listing includes the opportunity name, the start date for the review period, and the number of qualified applications.

To begin reviewing applications for an opportunity, click the corresponding link indicating the number of assigned reviews (on the right in red). The list of applicants will be displayed. When an opportunity has specific qualifiers (such as GPA, credit hours, or major), those qualifiers are used to filter the applicant pool; consequently, you will see only the qualified applicants, not all submissions.

To see details that were available to applicants (such as eligibility requirements, the number of awards, and approximate award amounts), in the top right corner, click Opportunity Details.

To access an individual's application, in the "Actions" column, click Begin.

The default view is a side-by-side display that shows the General Application details first, followed by imported data, and then opportunity-specific details (if applicable). To change out of the default view, click Exit Side-by-Side.

In the default side-by-side view:

  • The individual's application will be displayed on the left, including the applicant's answers from the General Application, information imported from SIS (under "Imported Administrator Information"), and other applicant-provided information specific to the opportunity, such as essays and letters of recommendation.
  • Instructions from the opportunity administrator or chair of the reviewer group will be displayed on the right, along with any opportunity-specific rubrics and questions provided to help you evaluate applicants. An area for notes is also provided. You also can select Bookmark to mark the applicant for future reference in your list of evaluations.

Save or submit your review

To save a review that you started but did not complete, at the bottom of the side-by-side, click Save. This allows you to go back to the review to edit and/or complete it at a later date.

To submit a review that you are completely done evaluating, click Submit. This lets the administrator see that the application was reviewed. Once you submit a review, you cannot go back to edit it.
