ARCHIVED: What can I do if my eInstruction CPSrf Gen2 Response Pad ("clicker") isn't working?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

Note: This information applies to the eInstruction CPSrf Gen2 Response Pad, which has a white front and an LCD screen.

Who can use these instructions?

These instructions may help resolve the problem with your response pad if any of the following apply:

  • Your pad was working fine, and then it suddenly shut down and would not turn on again.
  • Your pad will not work in class, but it does turn on and off.
  • Your pad seemed to work when you bought it, but now it will not come on at all.
  • Your pad never worked.

Possible solutions to clicker problems

When you have problems with your Gen2 pad, try these options first:

  • Turn your pad on, and note the serial number. Then register the pad online, making sure to complete the proper registration process including payment or entering a payment code (or demo code if this is an instructor demo pad).
  • If you purchased a new pad to replace an old one or otherwise changed pads, log into your online account and change the serial number to match the one you are actually using.
  • Take out the batteries for at least two minutes, and then put them firmly back in before attempting to turn on and use your pad again.
  • Replace the batteries with new ones.
  • Check with your instructor to be sure that you have the right pad and are using it as intended for the course.
