Eucalyptus is an open source software platform that implements IaaS-style cloud computing. Eucalyptus provides web service interfaces that are compliant with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and based on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). For managing storage objects, Eucalyptus provides Walrus, which is equivalent to the AWS Simple Storage Service (S3). Eucalyptus also provides a user interface for managing users and images.

Eucalyptus is available on distributed FutureGrid resources. In FutureGrid, Eucalyptus is useful for experimenting within a cloud or across clouds, and for comparing cloud middleware stacks.

For instructions on using Eucalyptus on FutureGrid resources, see Eucalyptus in the FutureGrid Manual.
