What services does HELPnet provide?

HELPnet Technology Services exists to ensure a motivated and cooperative support staff to assist in the technological, security, and telecommunication needs of individuals, academic programs, research centers, and external public and private agencies supporting the goals of Indiana University.

HELPnet Technology Services consists of three teams of technology specialists offering a variety of comprehensive services. Each team's services are available independently of the others.

Client (desktop) support

The Client Support Team offers complete 360 troubleshooting, including all of the following; additional a la carte services are available.

  • Desktop and mobile device support
  • On-site desk-side issue resolution
  • Remote support for immediate troubleshooting
  • Full equipment lifecycle and inventory reporting
  • Hardware and software recommendations/purchasing
  • Conference room recommendations and support
  • UniCom upgrades

Central systems (systems engineering)

The Central Systems Team offers complete server infrastructure ownership, including all of the following; additional a la carte services are available.

  • Server administration and maintenance
  • IT security threat assessment and mitigation
  • Secure file storage and access provisioning
  • Critical data file storage (CDI)
  • Active Directory OU, group, and GPO management
  • Backups and data recovery
  • Disaster recovery
  • Print queue management
  • Server/network monitoring
  • IU IT Policy-aligned best practices and documentation
  • Industry-certified systems administrators/engineers
