ARCHIVED: Where can I find information about file systems mounted on XSEDE digital services hosted by NICS?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

For information about file systems mounted on Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) digital services hosted by the National Institute for Computational Sciences (NICS), including NFS-based home and project directories, and the Lustre-based scratch file system (Medusa), see the NICS File Systems page.

Note: If you have an XSEDE allocation on a NICS digital service:

  • The $HOME environment variable contains the path to your home directory (e.g., /nics/[a-d]/home/$USER; replace $USER with your XSEDE-wide username). NICS NFS home directories have a default storage limit of 2 GB per user; to request a quota increase, contact the XSEDE Help Desk.
  • The $SCRATCHDIR environment variable contains the path to your scratch directory on Medusa (e.g., /lustre/medusa/$USER; replace $USER with your XSEDE-wide username). Medusa provides 1.3 PB of Lustre-based scratch space. No storage quotas are enforced, but files are not backed up and are subject to being purged after 30 days.
