About end of life for Windows XP

Beginning April 8, 2014, Microsoft discontinued support for Windows XP; as such, it will no longer receive critical security updates. To ensure the highest security standards, the UITS Support Center no longer registers Windows XP devices to the Indiana University network. UITS strongly recommends that you look into the options for replacing or upgrading your Windows XP computers for full compatibility with IU systems. For details, see How do I install or reinstall Windows?

Since most computers running XP are several years old, most will be incapable of running newer Windows operating systems.

If you're affiliated with IU, for more about purchasing equipment, see ComputerGuide: Deals by vendor, recommendations, and common questions.
