Read content in another language with Read&Write with Google Chrome, Windows, or Mac
Overview
The following explains how to read content in another language with Read&Write using Windows or Mac, or within the Google Chrome browser.
Switch languages in Windows or Mac
Note:
If you need a language that isn't listed in the voice settings in Read&Write, you will first need to be add it to your computer.
- For downloading new languages for the Text-to-Speech feature in Windows 10, visit How to download Text-to-Speech languages for Windows 10.
- For changing the voice your Mac uses to speak text, visit Change the voice your Mac uses to speak text - Apple Support.
- Select the button indicated by the icon [image here].
- Select .
- In the menu on the left, select .
- Select the drop down box next to "Voice".
- Choose the language voice you want Read&Write to use to read the content.
- Select to close the "Read&Write Settings" window.
Switch languages within Google Chrome
- Launch Read&Write by selecting the purple puzzle icon on the browser toolbar or by pressing
Alt-Shift-R
. - On the far right of the toolbar, select the three horizontal dots to open the "More" menu.
- Select .
- In the "Options" window, select in the menu on the left side.
- Under the "Voice" drop-down menu, select the language voice you want to use to read content.
- Select the button.
- Read&Write will now read the content with the language voice.
