Overview

To avoid possible client naming conflicts in Data Protection Services (DPS), the SAV team recommends that you uninstall the DPS Restore Only Agent (ROA) from your system prior to installing the updated client version. See below for instructions for uninstalling the ROA from both Linux and Windows VMs.

Uninstall from Linux

Note:
The process of uninstalling DPS from your Linux VM can vary depending on how the installation was performed. This article only covers the process recommended by Commvault.

To uninstall the ROA from a Linux VM using the interactive procedure:

  1. Log onto the server as root.
  2. At the command line, run the following command: cvpkgrm
    Note:
If there are multiple instances installed on the client, select the instance you want to uninstall, and then press Enter.
  3. In the "Welcome to Uninstaller" dialog, click Next.
  4. In the "Uninstall Selection" dialog, select Remove all the packages and click Next.
  5. Review the information in the "Summary" dialog, and click Next when you are ready to proceed.
  6. In the "Uninstall Status" dialog, click Finish.
    Note:
If you need to remove multiple instances, repeat the above steps as needed.
  7. If you will be reinstalling a newer version of the ROA, ensure that the /etc/CommVaultRegistry directory has been removed prior to starting the new installation process.

Uninstall from Windows

To uninstall the ROA from a Windows machine using the Windows Control Panel:

  1. Log onto the computer as an Administrator or as a member of the Administrator group on that computer.
  2. Open the Control Panel, and then find the option to uninstall programs based on your Windows operating system. (For example, for Windows Server 2012, open the Control Panel, and under "Programs", click Uninstall a program.)
  3. From the list of programs, click Commvault ContentStore and then click Uninstall. The uninstallation wizard will open.
    Note:
If there are multiple instances installed on the client, the "Instance selection" page will display. Select the instance you want to uninstall and then proceed to the next page.
  4. On the "Select Uninstallation Option" page, click Uninstall all packages in the instance, and then proceed to the next page.
  5. On the "Uninstall Summary" page, review the information, and then proceed to the next page.
  6. On the "Uninstallation Status" page, click Finish.
    Note:
If you need to remove multiple instances, repeat the above steps as needed.
  7. If you will be reinstalling a newer version of the ROA, ensure that the c:\Program Files\Commvault folder has been deleted prior to starting the new installation process.
