About Sitehost data and security
Enterprise Web Technical Services(WebTech) is responsible for the implementation of data policies and security measures on Sitehost systems. Departmental web administrators and developers should be aware of who is responsible for data protection and security.
- Website snapshots: WebTech provides facilities for the backup and restoration of data; see Restore files on Sitehost or Pages.
- Qualys server scans: WebTech performs weekly server scans on all Sitehost servers on Sunday; see About vulnerability scanners and How to use Qualys. For information on web application scans, see below.
- Virus scans: WebTech performs virus scans on the storage infrastructure; see Virus scans and notifications.
- MySQL data backup: It is the responsibility of departmental web administrators and developers to perform backups of their individual site data. However, the Enterprise Database Administration team does disaster level backups of the entire database infrastructure; see About the MySQL for Sitehost data backup and restoration policy.
Qualys web application scans: It is the responsibility of departmental web administrators and developers to perform a web application scan; see About vulnerability scanners and How to use Qualys.
WebTech recommends scheduling scans during certain hours:
- Development and test sites: Monday-Friday 7pm-6am
- Production sites: Saturday-Sunday 7pm-6am
