ARCHIVED: In LISTSERV, what is the OK mechanism?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

Note: IU retired its LISTSERV system in spring 2012, replacing it with IU List, a new mailing list service. See About IU List

Many operations on LISTSERV mailing lists require the use of the OK mechanism, also known as the two-way OK confirmation. It works as follows:

  1. When you perform an action on a LISTSERV list that requires confirmation, LISTSERV will send you a message asking for confirmation.
  2. To make the request take effect, use the link provided in the message, or reply to the confirmation message. The body (not the subject) of your reply should be the following:
      ok
