ARCHIVED: On my LISTSERV list, how do I configure the Notify option?
Note: IU retired its LISTSERV system in spring 2012, replacing it with IU List, a new mailing list service. See About IU List
LISTSERV includes the option to send a notification to the list owner (or another specified recipient) when subscribers join or leave a list. The settings for the Notify option in LISTSERV are located in the list header under the Notify keyword.
You can change the settings for the Notify option either by editing the list header or by using the LISTSERV web interface wizard.
Editing the list header
Note: To complete the steps in this document, you will need to edit the list header; see ARCHIVED: On my LISTSERV list, how can I modify the list header?
When editing the Notify keyword, you have the following options:
Option | Result |
---|---|
Notify= Yes |
With "Yes" selected (the default
option), non-quiet list owner(s) will be notified when a subscriber
joins or leaves the list.
|
Notify= No |
With "No" selected, no notification will be sent.
|
Notify= user@emailaddress.com |
If an address is specified, that user (whether a list owner, list moderator, or someone with another status) will receive the notice. |
