Some service books contain information or settings for that specific device's networking or BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) provisioning. In some cases, this allows you to download those service books again for a device that is malfunctioning. If you have a BES account, to do this:

  1. Plug your device into your computer using the USB cable that came with the device.
  2. Log into the Web Desktop Manager. (For more information, see ARCHIVED: What is the BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager?)
  3. Click the Advanced Settings tab, then Troubleshooting.
  4. Under Reactivate a device, click Resend service books.

If you do not have a BES account, you can log into your cellular provider's BlackBerry Internet Service website and have it sent from there. Contact your cellular provider for the URL.

Note: The BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) service will be retired by January 1, 2015; see ARCHIVED: About the retired BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server). As of January 1, 2013, no new BES accounts are being created. UITS recommends you replace your BlackBerry with a device that is compatible with ActiveSync.
