When using the rich-text editor, you can include mathematical notation by clicking the sigma icon ( The icon with the Greek letter sigma ) in the toolbar. This opens the fMath - Math ML Editor, which allows you to insert many mathematical symbols in your work.

For more about the functions available and how to use them, see Using the fMath - MathML Editor.
