What is IU's policy on surveys via email?

Note: At Indiana University, if you are considering mass mailing, be aware that the University Information Policy Office (UIPO) distinguishes between administrative mailings and mail that is for interpersonal communication, and treats the two differently. For details, see What is IU's policy concerning mass mailing via email?

Before sending research surveys, you must obtain approval from the appropriate Human Subjects Committee (HSC) or Institutional Review Board (IRB) at your campus. For links to the HSC or IRB at each campus, see the Office of Research Administration's Compliance Services page.

For more, see Requirements for working with research data collected from human subjects.
