Use PDF Reader in Read&Write for desktop to read a PDF
Overview
This guide walks you through getting set up to use the PDF Reader feature in the desktop version of the Read&Write toolbar.
Open PDF in PDF Reader (Windows and macOS)
- Launch Read&Write, and log in with your Google at IU credentials.
- Select the button in the Read&Write toolbar.
- A window will appear, and you can navigate to the PDF you would like to open.
- Select your PDF, and then select the button.
- The PDF will open in the "PDF Reader" window.
Read a PDF in PDF Reader
In PDF Reader there are two ways to read a PDF file:
- Click to Speak: By default, when you open a PDF in PDF Reader, there is an icon in the upper left corner called "Click to Speak". It will have a purple line under the icon indicating the feature is active.
- To read in the PDF, move your mouse cursor to the location in the text, and then left-click to have it automatically start reading.
- The , , and buttons are controlled from the Read&Write toolbar.
- Select text to read: If you select the "Click to Speak" icon and make the purple line under the icon disappear, then Click to Speak is disabled.
- To read in the PDF, move the mouse cursor next to the location to start reading from, and then left-click.
- Select the button from the Read&Write toolbar to start reading the PDF.
- The , , and buttons are controlled from the Read&Write toolbar.
