Purchase and activate licenses for Microsoft Select Plus titles

On this page:

Overview

Microsoft Project, Visio, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Visual Studio are part of Microsoft's Select Plus agreement with Indiana University. This agreement allows IU schools and departments to purchase licenses for these titles, as needed, from an approved vendor.

Purchase

Unlike licenses for Microsoft Office, which are covered under a different agreement, licenses for Project, Visio, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Visual Studio must be purchased by schools and departments that want to use those applications. At IU, licensing for these titles is administered by the UITS Enterprise Windows and Azure Administration (EWA) team.

For pricing information, see the EWA team's Microsoft Licenses page.

To request a license, on the Microsoft Licenses page, click Microsoft License Request Form, and then fill out and submit the form. If you have questions, contact the EWA team at ewahelp@iu.edu.

Note:

For Visio or Project, see these comparison guides for help deciding which plan best suits your needs:

For Visio, the EWA team recommends Plan 2, which allows the use of the desktop application, rather than Plan 1, which allows access only from the web.

For Project, Plan 3 is most commonly purchased.

Install

Downloading and installing the applications requires using Microsoft's Office Click-to-Run technology (MSI installer packages are no longer available). Consequently, a local UITS support person will need to use the Office Deployment Tool (ODT) to install these titles.

Activate

Activation is handled automatically via the UITS Key Management System servers.
