Use Microsoft's on-premises data gateway
On this page:
Overview
Microsoft's on-premises data gateway acts as a bridge, providing secure data transfer between several Microsoft cloud services and your on-campus data.
These services include Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Azure Analysis Services, and Azure Logic Apps.
The Power Platform and related components, including the on-premises data gateway, are administered by Enterprise Windows & Azure Administration (EWA). Only EWA staff can create an on-premises data gateway, so they host a centralized data gateway that anyone may use.
Datasource types
The central data gateway currently supports Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and File datasource types. More drivers are planned, but if you need additional capabilities, contact ewahelp@iu.edu.
Get started
Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate, and Azure Analysis Services and Azure Logic Apps all have their own unique configurations.
- To get started using the data gateway for Power BI, complete the Create gateway datasource for Power BI form.
- To get started using the data gateway for Power Apps/Power Automate, complete the Power Platform Gateway Access Request form.
For any other use of the data gateway, contact ewahelp@iu.edu.
If you don't think you can use the centrally managed, on-premises data gateway in your situation, contact ewahelp@iu.edu.
Modify or delete datasources
- Power BI: To access datasources on the gateway or delete the datasource entirely, use the Modify Power BI Gateway Datasource form.
- Power Platform: To make changes, contact ewahelp@iu.edu.
