Getting an S/MIME certificate for digital email signatures at IU

At Indiana University, in order to send digitally signed email, you need to get an S/MIME certificate. You can also use the same certificate to send and receive encrypted mail within the IU Exchange system.

Your S/MIME certificate will work only with the email address you supply when creating the certificate; if your email address changes, you must get a new certificate.

To create an S/MIME certificate for use at IU, follow the instructions below. If you don't see detailed instructions, and you are affiliated with Indiana University, log into the Knowledge Base using the green Log in button above.
