Open Educational Resources (OER) services at IU

On this page:

Overview

Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials that have been shared under a license that allow others to freely use and revise them. OER can include entire courses, media, syllabi, or textbooks, and are completely free to students.

OER can also be delivered through the IU eTexts initiative via Unizin Engage without fee to students. When searching for OER in the IU eTexts catalog, select Open Textbook Library, Open Stax, or any other OER publisher from the Publisher drop-down menu.

Libraries at each IU campus support faculty in finding, evaluating, using, and creating OER. Below are the key OER services provided by each campus.

For questions not answered by the resources below, contact AVP Carolyn Gentle-Genitty (cgentleg@iu.edu) in the Office of Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
