ARCHIVED: In Outlook, how can I make DST adjustments to a resource calendar or a calendar for which I'm a delegate?

To keep your Exchange calendar accurate after the start of Daylight Saving Time (DST) on April 2, 2006, you will need to check your calendar for items that are affected by the time change. The Time Zone Checker will help you to do this for your personal calendar; however, the Time Zone Checker is not a solution for correcting appointments on shared calendars. If you are a delegate or a resource manager who manages other people's calendars or resource calendars, you need to correct appointments directly through Outlook. (If the shared calendar is a Public Folder, see the Knowledge Base document ARCHIVED: At IU, how do I use the Fix Public Folder Calendar tool to correct the time zone setting for calendar items in a Public Folder?)

Note: Before you make any changes to your calendar, print your calendar first for reference. It may be most convenient to print directly from the Time Zone Checker tool. If you print from Outlook, consider changing Current View to a view that lists appointments like a spreadsheet (e.g., By Category, Active Appointments, Recurring Appointments). The By Category view shows all appointments; other views are filtered views, so you might need to print a combination of views to get all appointments.

If you are a delegate with proper rights to edit another calendar and send/accept meeting requests on behalf of another user or resource, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your computer's time zone setting has been updated. See the Knowledge Base document ARCHIVED: In Windows, how do I change the time zone?
  2. Open the shared calendar in Outlook. If there are many calendar items to check, you can quickly identify groups of items using the advanced search methods in the Knowledge Base document ARCHIVED: How does Indiana's adoption of Daylight Saving Time affect my Exchange calendar? (Scroll down to the "What you need to do" section.) Be sure to browse for the shared Calendar folder in the Outlook Advanced Find search tool.
  3. Open each item and adjust the time if needed.
  4. To ensure that the item is saved with the correct time information, you need to turn recurrence on and then off again (this will not permanently make the item recurring). Click Recurrence and then OK.
  5. Click Recurrence again, and then click Remove Recurrence.
  6. Click Save and Close.
  7. If you are prompted, send an update.

You can easily correct holidays on individual or shared calendars in bulk. See the Knowledge Base document ARCHIVED: In Microsoft Outlook, how do I add or remove holidays in my Exchange calendar?
