At IU, how do I opt out of the spam quarantine service?

At Indiana University, email accounts on Exchange are automatically included in the spam quarantine service, which deletes mail quarantined for five days. See At IU, what is the spam quarantine service?

If you're going away on vacation or cannot monitor your email account for five days, or if you'd rather not participate in the spam quarantine service at all, you can opt out of the service to prevent the system from deleting messages from your quarantine folder.

To opt out, you must log into Outlook Web App (OWA) and turn off Junk E-mail filtering. The appropriate instructions depend on whether you're using the Premium or Light interface for OWA.

If using the Premium interface, in the upper right corner, click the gear icon and then choose Options. Then, on the left side, click Block or Allow, and select Don't move mail to my Junk E-mail folder (to re-enable filtering, select Automatically filter junk e-mail). Click Save in the bottom right to save your changes.

If using the Light interface, in the upper right corner, click Options. Then, on the left side, click Junk E-Mail, and select Don't filter junk e-mail (to re-enable filtering, select Automatically filter junk e-mail). Click Save in the upper left to save your changes.

Note:
Even though filtering is turned off, the spam quarantine service will continue to purge items that you leave in your Junk E-mail folder for longer than five days. Also, any addresses that are in your Blocked list will still be moved to the Junk E-mail folder.
