Using Skype for Business/Lync, how do I hold a conference call or online meeting?

Use Microsoft Skype for Business/Lync to access Indiana University's UniCom service.

You can use Skype for Business or Lync for Mac to communicate with multiple people via phone, instant messaging, or video. This can be a formal meeting, with presenters and attendees, or a simple multi-party conversation. You may choose to set up a meeting that each person will dial into at the specified time, or you can call multiple people yourself.

  • If you are initiating calls, you must enter your Authorization Code for any international numbers. If you're using the Skype for Business/Lync client with a USB headset or USB phone, you must call each international number individually, and then merge the conversations together. In one of the conversation windows, click the More Options icon ( The More Options icon in Skype for Business looks like three dots ) in Skype for Business on Windows or the People Options icon ( The icon in Lync for Mac looks like a gear ) in Lync for Mac, and select the conversation you want to merge into.
  • If you set up a meeting for others to dial into, the primary phone number will be local to your campus. People calling in from the regions of any of IU's other campuses can call a number in that area to join the conference; in the meeting invitation, click Find a local number for the list. Any long-distance charges are the responsibility of the callers. All calls between office phones at any of IU's campuses are free.
  • You can dial into an IU Video Bridge meeting using either the Mac or Windows client. See Create or join a videoconference at IU.
