What is a "23" video bridge conference?

A "23" video bridge conference is a videoconference meeting service on the IU video bridge. Multiple participants can join a 23 conference at up to HD video quality from a wide variety of videoconferencing room systems and software clients, including:

Like all conferences on the IU video bridge, a 23 conference is generally best for interactive meetings with no more than 15 participants. For larger meetings and one-to-many information-sharing and seminar events, UITS recommends using Adobe Connect, Istream, or Echo360. Note:

Adobe Connect, IU's web collaboration and conferencing system, will be retired on August 31, 2017. After a comprehensive pilot evaluation, Zoom has been selected as its replacement. For more, see About the Adobe Connect retirement.

Over the next few months, UITS will be converting all Adobe Connect recordings to MP4 format. By early summer, you will be able to save converted files to your computer and upload them to Box or Kaltura.

Every "23" video bridge conference has two aliases: a conference number, and a conference name. To connect to your conference, enter either 23<4-to-7-digit-number> or meet.name.

IU faculty and staff may create a 23 conference by submitting the automated form at https://www.indiana.edu/~video/pexip/. For connection instructions, see At IU, how can I create or join a videoconference?

Once created, your 23 conference is permanent and ready to receive calls anytime. The host controls access to the conference with an extra host PIN.

23 conferences can play a soft "doorbell" tone as participants join and leave the conference. If you'd like entry/exit tones applied to your existing 23 conference, send email to cthelp@iu.edu.

Skype for Business/Lync (Windows and Mac) can connect to a 23 conference at up to HD resolution. Share your screen to the conference using the Skype for Business/Lync screen sharing button. Skype for Business/Lync will also receive computer content (e.g., from a conference room system) in high resolution.
