Navigating OCQ: How can instructors view course evaluations at IU?

At Indiana University, the Online Course Questionnaire (OCQ) system (sometimes called Course Questionnaire or Online Course Evaluation) is used to administer course evaluations online at the Bloomington, IUPUI, Kokomo, Northwest, IUPU Columbus, South Bend, and Southeast campuses. Instructors may use it to monitor student participation rates and access evaluation reports. For more, view a video demonstration.

Note:
Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge have known incompatibilities with the Course Questionnaire application. UITS recommends using a different browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).

Monitoring participation rates

  1. Before a questionnaire becomes available to students, you will receive a link to your online course evaluations via email. You can also access them at coursequestionnaire.iu.edu.
  2. Log in with your IU username and passphrase.
  3. Near the bottom of the management portal dashboard, you will see a list of your courses that are currently being evaluated online. Click the title of a course to view your current response rates.

  4. This will open a course window, where you'll see information about the course, including the dates it is being evaluated, the number of students invited to participate, the number of students that completed the questionnaire, and the response rate.

Accessing online course evaluation reports

  1. You will receive an email notification that your reports are available, with a link to the reports. You can also access the reports by visiting coursequestionnaire.iu.edu and logging in with your IU username and passphrase.
  2. To the right of the desired semester, click View Report. Use the box above the report list to search for a specific semester.

  3. If you only taught one course with an online evaluation for the given semester, the report will open; if you taught more than one, you'll see a list of reports from which to choose.
