IU eTexts are not simply digital copies of traditional textbooks. They are multiple forms of digital learning materials, delivered directly to students before the first day of class at a greatly reduced cost, and integrated into the Canvas course site along with tools designed to improve the quality of teaching and to increase the likelihood of reaching learning outcomes.

For faculty, IU eTexts are:

  • Direct from the publisher, eliminating distributors, bookstores, and any resulting markups for your students
  • Current and complete, with no risk to your students that might come with outdated editions or used or partial books
  • The exact same text from the same authors and publishers, including every chart, graph, picture, etc.
  • Easy for your students to buy: Fees are added to the bursar bill at enrollment, and are covered by all forms of financial aid.
  • Fair: All students get the same discount.
  • Priced significantly lower for your students than almost all other options, due to IU's ability to negotiate volume discounts directly with publishers, as well as the guaranteed 100% sell-through we can offer them; since summer 2011, faculty who have adopted IU eTexts titles have saved IU students over $12 million.
