Ordering deadlines for IU eTexts

Overview

Ordering periods for the IU eTexts Order Tool begin on September 2 and February 2 every year to allow faculty to order digital course materials for upcoming terms through the IU eTexts initiative.

Ordering periods close the day before the first day of registration for each term. For specific campus deadlines by term, see the other sections of this document.

Note:
  • Faculty and coordinators will not see all classes in the IU eTexts Order Tool until all campuses, schools, departments, and programs have finished editing the Schedule of Classes for the upcoming term.
  • When an ordering period closes, the IU eTexts Order Tool is no longer available to faculty and coordinators. To place post-deadline orders, follow the procedure in Post-Deadline Ordering.

Winter 2024

The IU eTexts Order Tool opens on September 2, 2024 and closes at 8:00pm (ET) on the day of the deadline noted below:

  • Bloomington (GRD1): October 6, 2024
  • Indianapolis (GRD1): September 29, 2024

Post Deadline Ordering

The deadline to make a change to an order is noon (ET), on October 8, 2024.

eTexts titles ordered on time will be loaded to Canvas by October 14, 2024. Publisher courseware and other digital tools will be provisioned in the weeks following this date.

Spring 2025

The IU eTexts Tool opens on September 2, 2024 and closes at 8pm (ET) on the deadline day listed below:

  • IU Bloomington: October 16, 2024
  • IU Bloomington (GRD1): January 20, 2025
  • IU Indianapolis: November 3, 2024
  • IU Indianapolis (GRD1): January 5, 2025
  • IU Columbus: November 3, 2024
  • IU East: November 3, 2024
  • IU Fort Wayne: October 27, 2024
  • IU Kokomo: November 3, 2024
  • IU Northwest: November 3, 2024
  • IU South Bend: November 3, 2024
  • IU Southeast: November 3, 2024

Post-Deadline Ordering

The deadline to make a change to an order will be noon (ET) on Friday November 22, 2024 (TBD for GRD1 classes).

eText titles ordered on time will be loaded to Canvas by December 2, 2024 (January 12, 2025 for GRD1 classes). Publisher courseware and other digital tools will be provisioned in the weeks following this date.

Summer 2025

The IU eTexts Order Tool opens on February 2, 2025 and closes on 8pm (ET) on the day of the deadline listed below:

eTexts titles ordered on time will be loaded to Canvas by TBD. (TBD for GRD1 classes.) Publisher courseware and other digital tools will be provisioned in the weeks following TBD.

Note:

Some campuses choose to enroll students for summer during the preceding fall term instead of the spring term. At this time, the IU eTexts Order Tool and IU's publisher/vendor agreements are not capable of supporting that choice. Orders for these campuses may only be submitted during the timeline noted above. This means that if students have already enrolled, these will be considered late orders. Faculty, programs, departments, or schools must assume the responsibility to contact all enrolled students to explain the late addition of a charge for the class. UITS recommends waiting for two overnight refreshes after submitting an order before contacting the enrolled students, so you don't miss any.

An alternative and easier approach is to add a Class Note; for example:

The instructor of this class will be teaching with IU eTexts. Details of the specific title and price will be posted to the Schedule of Classes in February/March.

Fall 2025

The IU eTexts Order Tool opens on February 2, 2025 and closes on 8pm (ET) on the deadline day noted below:

  • IU Bloomington: March 23, 2025
  • IU Bloomington (GRD1): July 13, 2025
  • IU Indianapolis: March 23, 2025
  • IU Indianapolis (GRD1): July 6, 2025
  • IU Columbus: March 23, 2025
  • IU East: March 23, 2025
  • IU Fort Wayne: March 23, 2025
  • IU Kokomo: March 23, 2025
  • IU Northwest: March 23, 2025
  • IU South Bend: March 23, 2025
  • IU Southeast: March 23, 2025

Post Deadline Ordering

The deadline to make a change to an order is noon (ET), July 11, 2025.

eTexts titles ordered on time will be loaded to Canvas by July 17, 2025.
