ARCHIVED: Computing account storage space at IU

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

Indiana University allocates disk storage to users of IU computing accounts. If you fill your disk space, you will receive a notification email message when you try to perform many operations, such as sending or receiving email. To resolve this, your best option is to clean out your account, deleting stored messages or files you no longer need. This option not only conserves computing resources, but also is the quickest way to solve a space problem.

You can also request a space increase. You should only pursue this option if you cannot delete the excess material (e.g., you are storing several large files needed for academic work) and have a legitimate reason for requesting more space.

If you continue to have problems with your storage, contact your campus Support Center; see Contact your campus IT Support Center
