To follow the steps below, you must be using Mac OS X 10.2 or later. To access Cyrus, you must have Eudora 6.2 or later.

To configure Eudora in Mac OS X to read your Cyrus or IU Exchange mail at IU using IMAP:

  1. Start Eudora. From the Special menu, select Settings.... If you're running Eudora for the first time, the Settings window may appear automatically. If so, skip to the third step.
  2. On the left side of the Settings window, in the list of settings categories, click the Getting Started icon.
  3. On the right side of the window, in the "Username:" field, enter your IU Network ID username (e.g., dvader).
  4. Next to "Mail Server:", enter the address for your IMAP server:

To access your Exchange account, enter imap.exchange.iu.edu.

  5. In the "Real Name:" field, enter your name.
  6. In the "Outgoing" or "SMTP" server field, type:

      mail-relay.iu.edu
  7. Under "Return Address", enter your full IU email address.

If you are unsure of your exact IU email address, see Your IU email address.

  8. On the left side of the window, click the icon for the Checking Mail settings category. Then, on the right side of the window, next to "Mail Protocol:", click IMAP.
  9. Leave the "Location Prefix:" field blank.

Note: If you have trouble receiving Cyrus mail after configuring your account with these instructions, try putting "" (double quotes) in this field.

  10. On the left side of the window, scroll through the list of settings categories, and then click the SSL icon.
  11. On the right side of the window, for both the pull-down menu next to "SSL for SMTP:" and the one for "SSL for IMAP:", select Required (Alternate Port). Click OK.
