ARCHIVED: At IU, why am I not receiving email, including notifications from Oncourse?

If you are not receiving Indiana University email messages, including notifications from Oncourse or messages sent through the Oncourse Email Archive, two different problems may be the cause:

No email account

A small number of students and faculty have created Network IDs and set passphrases without having created their university email accounts; this usually occurs when a new student does not complete the Starter Kit. Students returning to the university may have a Network ID, but need to re-establish an email address.

If you have not created a university email account, you will not receive email, including notifications sent from Oncourse. In the Oncourse Roster tool, "n/a" will appear under the email heading next to your name.

To correct this problem:

If you experience any problems, contact your campus Support Center.

Missing or incorrect email address setting within Oncourse

If you are getting other types of email through your university email account, but are not getting notifications or Email Archive messages from Oncourse, you may have deleted or incorrectly set your authorized email address for Oncourse (this is not the same as your preferred email address for the university). If this is the case, you will see a blank space or an incorrect address under the "Email Address" heading in the Roster tool next to your name.

To correct this problem, see ARCHIVED: Changing your authorized email address.
