About email for graduate SAAs

If you are a graduate student at Indiana University who is also a Student Academic Appointee (SAA) (e.g., an Associate Instructor, Graduate Assistant, Research Assistant, or Faculty Assistant), you may need to use an IU-hosted email account (i.e., Cyrus or Exchange) for work-related email, rather than Imail or Umail.

Due to concerns about the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), departments prefer either Cyrus or Exchange accounts for mail containing confidential student data and other correspondence related to your role as a teaching assistant, instructor, or grader. These accounts will be disabled and the content unavailable when you are no longer affiliated with IU.
