Connect to an IU wireless network in macOS if booted from your Recovery HD

If you are booted from your Recovery HD, you must have access to the internet to perform a system reinstall or to get help online. At Indiana University, UITS recommends connecting via Ethernet rather than the wireless network; however, if wireless is the only solution available for you:

  1. Make sure your device is registered; see Register your device for a wireless connection.
  2. From the AirPort menu in the upper-right side of your screen, make sure Wi-Fi is enabled.
  3. Select the IU PublicNet SSID. (Macs in recovery mode may not connect to eduroam, IU Secure, or IU Guest wireless).
