In Mac OS X, how do I connect to an IU wireless network if I am booted from my Recovery HD?

If you are booted from your Recovery HD, you must have access to the Internet to perform a system reinstall or to get help online. At Indiana University, UITS recommends connecting via Ethernet rather than the wireless network; however, if wireless is the only solution available for you:

  1. Make sure your device is registered; see Connect your media or gaming device to the Internet via IU DeviceNet.
  2. From the AirPort menu in the upper-right side of your screen, make sure Wi-Fi is enabled.
  3. Select the IU DeviceNet SSID. (Macs in recovery mode may not connect to either IU Secure or AT&T wireless).
