Transfer ownership of a Google at IU My Drive folder to a different account in Google at IU
Notes:
- Google at IU My Drive folders owned by a Google at IU account cannot be transferred to a personal Google account with this method.
- The new owner will already need to be a collaborator on the folder; see About Google at IU My Drive.
To transfer ownership of a file or folder that you own to another Google at IU account:
- Select the folder that you would like to transfer. To select multiple folders, hold
Shift
and click the folders you want. - At the top right, click .
- Click .
- To the right of the person's name, click the down arrow, and then select .
- Click . You will now be an editor on the folder instead of an owner.
If you will no longer need access to the files, the new owner of the folder should be able to remove your access. Have the new owner open the
sharing settings following the steps above, click the beside your name, and then click .Important:
- Shared storage in Google is available only as an option for departments that wish to pay for continued storage in Google.
- Due to limits to IU's storage footprint in the Google platform, all individual Google My Drives now have a 5 GB quota.
