Connecting to the Internet at IU
On this page:
- On-campus connections:
- Off-campus connections:
Ethernet in campus housing (IUB and IUPUI)
For details, see In IUB or IUPUI campus housing, how do I connect to the network?
Ethernet in campus offices
To set up a computer in your office on campus, contact your department's IT Pro. The data jack needs to be activated and an IP address assigned.
Wireless on campus
If your computer has a wireless network card, you can make a wireless connection to the IU network at most locations on IU campuses.
For visitors to IU
If you are not affiliated with IU but are visiting campus, you can use AT&T wireless. See How can IU visitors connect to AT&T wireless free of charge?
Cable modem or DSL connections (outside ISPs)
For help setting up cable modem or DSL service, contact an Internet service provider (ISP) in your area. Your ISP will give you instructions to configure your computer. You may then wish to use a VPN connection to access certain resources; see Connecting to IU's SSL VPN for individuals and groups from a Windows or OS X workstation.
