ARCHIVED: What can I do in read-only Oncourse?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.
Important:
Oncourse is retired. For details, see ARCHIVED: About the Oncourse retirement.

As of August 31, 2016, Oncourse is in read-only mode, and the features available in the application are, by and large, limited to viewing and downloading or migrating existing content.

In a few tools, you may find that you can still create or edit content to a limited extent. Also, in some tools, the buttons for creating or editing content remain visible, but attempts to save the content generate an error.

The table below shows what specific roles can expect to be able to do within Oncourse course, project, and portfolio sites. If you need help ARCHIVED: exporting or ARCHIVED: migrating your Oncourse content, contact your department's LMS administrator, your campus teaching and learning center, or your campus Support Center.

Notes:

1 In read-only Oncourse, the Canvas Migration tool is not visible. To gain temporary access to the tool, in the Oncourse menubar, click Enable Migrations and reload the current page in your browser. After the page refresh, the Canvas Migrations tool will be visible in the site menubar.

2 To ensure all data in selected tools are migrated, only instructors/site owners should launch the tool.

3 In the default state of the tool in read-only Oncourse, instructors will not be able to see or download full PostEm files. To gain temporary access to your PostEm files, in the site menubar, click Enable Migrations and reload the current page in your browser.

4 In read-only Oncourse, site owners no longer have access to the Compress to ZIP archive option in Oncourse. If you need a ZIP archive of all resources or a specific folder in site, contact your department administrator, your campus teaching and learning center, or the UITS Mission Critical team. However, if you have reached or are close to meeting your site's Resources quota, you must export your Resources using ARCHIVED: WebDAV or the Canvas Migration tool.

The quota for a course, project, or portfolio site, or for My Workspace, is 4 GB. To check your site quota and usage, in the Resources tool, click Check Quota.

5 Access past grade rosters via the Faculty Center; see View your grade roster in the Faculty Center

6 Access past performance rosters via the Faculty Center; see ARCHIVED: View your Student Performance/FLAGs Roster as an instructor

7 Department LMS administrators can no longer add themselves to sites as instructors. If you need to be added to a site as an instructor, contact the UITS Mission Critical team or ask another department LMS administrator to add you.
