ARCHIVED: In Oncourse, why did the Email Archive reject my message?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.
Important:
Oncourse is retired. For details, see ARCHIVED: About the Oncourse retirement.

Note: If you use Umail, when you send a message to the address for your Oncourse site, it will appear only in your Sent Mail folder, not in your Inbox. This is due to Gmail settings documented in Gmail Help.

By default, the Email Archive is private, so only site participants may send email to it.

Additionally, if the Email Archive is private, you will only be able to send email to the site from your authorized email address. To view and change your authorized email address, see ARCHIVED: Changing your authorized email address.

Note: If you have an Imail or Umail account, you may need to update your authorized address to use your @umail.iu.edu or @imail.iu.edu email address.

If the Email Archive rejects mail from your authorized address, check with your instructor or site administrator to make sure the permissions are set correctly for your role. If they are, and your messages are still rejected, then contact your campus Support Center.

Note: Your site owner may choose to let anyone send email to the site address. In this case, you could send email from any address, but you will still only receive mail from the site at the email address listed under Account in My Workspace.
