ARCHIVED: Why am I having trouble logging into Oncourse?

Important:
Oncourse is retired. For details, see ARCHIVED: About the Oncourse retirement.

For basic login instructions, see ARCHIVED: Logging in. If you have trouble logging into Oncourse, check the following:

  • Make sure you are typing your username and passphrase correctly on the Central Authentication Service (CAS) login page. Both are case sensitive; verify that your Caps Lock key is not on.
  • Your CAS login might be stale. This can happen if you click your browser's Back button while in Oncourse. To resolve this issue, close and reopen your browser. (Instead of Back, use Cancel or the reset button, as appropriate.)
  • Check that your browser is set up to use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connections. Most browsers are set up to use SSL by default.
  • If you still have trouble connecting, try changing your passphrase. See Change your IU passphrase

Once you change your passphrase, there will be a delay of about 20 minutes before you can log in.

  • If you're using a Guest account, check to see if you can ARCHIVED: update your Guest account profile.
    • If you cannot log into CAS with your Guest account, you may not have activated your Guest account after creating it. In the email account you used to create your Guest account, look for a message with a subject such as "Activate your IU Guest account now". Click the link within the message to activate your account.
    • If you can log into CAS but cannot connect to Oncourse, you may not have been added to a site roster. In this case, you may receive the error, "Account not found." Ask your course instructor or the site owner to verify that you have been correctly added to the roster.

If you are still unable to access Oncourse, contact your campus Support Center for assistance.
