Known issues with Box at IU

Following is continually updated information about the status of known university-wide ARCHIVED: Box issues.

Issue Description Status Last updated
Bulk download from the Box website has a limit of 15 GB
If you choose to download a folder or folders containing over 15 GB of data, Box will download a single ZIP file, but it will not contain all of the data you selected. Box does not warn you that it is too much data and it does not notify you that the download does not contain all of your selected data.
The issue has been reported to the vendor. The limit of 15 GB for the download is not considered a bug. The lack of error message is being investigated. For full details on issues around downloads in Box, see Common Issues with Downloading Files.

Browser limitation with ARCHIVED: large file upload

IE has a limit of 4 GB per file. These limits do not apply if using the Java (Upload Folders) uploader.

Note:
UITS strongly recommends that you use a supported browser, and not Internet Explorer (IE). Microsoft 365 apps and services no longer support Internet Explorer.
No time estimate exists for resolving the issue.

Drag and drop folders
Users can drag and drop single files into Box via any supported browser. Drag and drop of entire folders works best with Chrome. In Firefox, dragging and dropping folders may also upload unwanted temporary files. This feature is not available in Internet Explorer.
Users of other browsers can use the bulk upload feature under the Upload menu. For documentation, see Upload to Box.
