If you have difficulties with the process of requesting IU eTexts for adoption (see ARCHIVED: Adopt IU eTexts as an IU faculty member or ARCHIVED: Adopt IU eTexts as an IU eTexts Coordinator), see the following possible problems and resolutions.

  • My term or campus information is missing (or undefined).
    • The IU eTexts Adoption Portal is optimized for use on the IU network with Windows, using either the Firefox or Chrome as your web browser (Internet Explorer is not included). If you are off campus, connecting to VPN may help, although the platform and browser limitations will still apply.
    • If the page does not load within about 10 seconds, try closing and re-opening the system.
    • Old data may interfere; try clearing your browser cache.
  • I can't get to the first screen.
    • The IU eTexts Adoption Portal is only available during a specific period before each term; see IU eTexts for the timeline. When the deadline has passed, the portal is no longer available. To discuss the possibility of adopting after a deadline, send mail to etexthlp@iu.edu.
    • Faculty assigned to a class in the SIS Schedule of Classes can submit adoption requests; to others, no information will be available.
    • If the page does not load within about 10 seconds, try closing and re-opening the system.
    • Old data may interfere; try clearing your browser cache. See Clear your web browser's cache, cookies, and history
  • My course or class is not listed.
    • You can submit an IU eTexts adoption request if a course and class are posted in the SIS Schedule of Classes; otherwise, no information will be available. Check with your scheduling officer or Registrar for assistance.
    • Be sure you have correctly selected from the Campus, Career, and Term drop-down menus.
  • I want to go back in to a class, but am blocked.
  • I'm not sure what to do next.
  • My trouble is not listed here.
