Overview

At Indiana University, the UITS Enterprise Web Technical Services (WebTech) team provides web hosting, content management, and other professional services.

WebTech services

Linux hosting

• Sitehost: Sitehost is the university's central web server solution for core and gateway websites and thousands of other websites related to official IU business. The Sitehost service is provided at no cost. For more, see About Sitehost.
• Pages: The Pages services lets IU faculty, staff, and students create individual web pages to allow colleagues, conference organizers, potential research partners, or potential employers to find you and learn more about your work. You might also use the home page account to post files for a class or provide information for a project. The Pages service is provided at no cost. For more, see About pages.iu.edu.

Windows Hosting Environment (WHE)

The Windows Hosting Environment (WHE) works with multiple UITS teams to provide services for a wide variety of web applications and other information system needs. Services include a Microsoft IIS web server environment with the ability to support Adobe ColdFusion, Microsoft .NET Framework, and .NET Core 3.1 programming languages. WHE services are free up to 10 GB of storage at which point extra resources are billed. For more, see About the Windows Hosting Environment.

Web content management

• Web Content Management System (WCMS): The Web Content Management System (WCMS) is one application publishing many sites. The WCMS allows developers and designers to build and produce modern, feature-rich websites. Site managers can structure environments where content authors can create, maintain, and publish web content to their web hosting service. The WCMS is available at no cost. • IU Blogs: IU Blogs provides an easy-to-use platform for faculty, staff, and students who want a blogging presence at IU. The platform is a multi-site WordPress environment hosted by an external vendor (CampusPress) and supported by WebTech. The IU Blogs service is available at no cost. Partnership with Tier 2 WSS

WebTech partners with Tier 2 Web Services Support (WSS) to provide support for WebTech services, such as Sitehost, Pages, and the WCMS. For more, see About Web Services Support.
