Overview

At Indiana University, the IU Print service provides on-campus printing for all members of the IU community.

Printing at IU is provided at no charge, except for plotter printing.

Standard print allotments

Individuals receive a printing allotment to use each semester. The IU Print system displays this as a dollar value, but there is no charge associated with the allotment (it is simply a way to track usage).

Students receive a print allotment of $26 at the beginning of each semester. An added allotment of $52 can be requested without fee once per semester.

Employees receive a more substantial allotment and receive allotment increases automatically when they run low. Employees do not need to request added allotments.

IU affiliates do not receive the standard allotment and only receive allotments by request.

Check your allotment balance

To check the balance of your IU Print allotment:

1. Visit Mobile Print.

2. If prompted, log in with your IU username and passphrase.

3. Look in the bottom left corner of the screen, under the "Payment Method" area. Your allotment balances will be displayed.

Allotment deduction per page

When you print on an IU Print printer, deductions from your allotment are made on a per-page basis. Black and white letter-size pages are deducted at $0.04 per single-sided page and $0.07 per double-sided page. Color letter-size pages are deducted at $0.25 per single-sided page and $0.49 per double-sided page. Deductions for larger page sizes are proportionally higher.

With the standard student allotment, you can print approximately 650 black and white single-sided pages.

Plotter printing

Plotter printing is provided by IU Print at IU Bloomington. Standard print allotment funds cannot be used as payment for this service; use department funded printing or CrimsonCash deposits instead. (If you have both applied to your account, the IU Print system will automatically charge the department funded printing first.)

Plotter printing is charged as a base price per job, plus a cost per square inch. Details are in the table below:

Example: A 3' x 4' plot (1,728 square inches) can cost up to $14.85 on matte paper.
