ARCHIVED: If I'm an IUPUI student, how do I get my first computing accounts?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

In order to get computer accounts at IUPUI, you must be a student, or a faculty or staff member. If you are a faculty or staff member, for information about getting your first computing accounts, see the Knowledge Base document Create your first IU computing accounts (admitted students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and those returning to IU) For a complete description of available accounts at IUPUI, see the Knowledge Base document Computing accounts at IU.

New IUPUI students who attend orientation receive their computing accounts at that time. However, if you did not attend orientation, you can create your accounts using the Account Management Service (AMS). To do so, visit:

  http://itaccounts.iu.edu/

You can access the AMS from any computer with an Internet connection.

Note: For the AMS, use a web browser capable of making a secure connection (one that supports SSL), such as the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari, and be sure you are able to accept cookies.

On campus, you can access the AMS in any Windows (not Mac OS X) Student Technology Center (STC) or Residential Technology Center (RTC); for instructions, see the Knowledge Base document ARCHIVED: At IUB or IUPUI, if I don't have a Network ID, how do I use a kiosk to create my initial computing accounts? For information about using the AMS, see the Knowledge Base document Create your first IU computing accounts (admitted students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and those returning to IU)

Allow yourself 10 to 15 minutes to complete the account creation process. Your session will time out if left inactive for more than five consecutive minutes, requiring that you log in and begin the process again.

If the account creation process doesn't work for you, or you encounter problems with the AMS, be sure to write down the full text of any error messages, and contact one of the UITS Support Center locations. For information about the UITS Support Center, see the Knowledge Base document ARCHIVED: What are the hours and options for help at the UITS Support Center?

Note:
For departmental, student organization, or group accounts, you can change the passphrase if you know the current one. Other account settings must be handled by the account owner.
